Blueoceana Company has been made to understand that a 62 year old worker was struck and killed by a forklift truck Monday, at the Northern Adriatic Italian port of San Giorgio di Nogaro.

Other factual aspects of the accident are presently unknown, as is the worker’s identity. However, local media accounts claim that two of the principal Italian dock worker unions have become incensed by this accident’s occurrence and have called for a strike action. Ostensibly, their plan was to deny work activities for a one hour period at the end of each of yesterday’s (17 April) work shifts; at virtually each of Italy’s seaports.

The unions seek a meeting with Italian Labor Minister Giuliano Poletti, at which they intend to forcefully ask for mandatory, uniform occupational safety regulations at all Italian ports.
