With great regret, we relate news coming from the port of Bilbao, Spain where yesterday morning a 54 year old crane mechanic was drowned after the forklift truck he was operating plunged over the stringpiece and into the water adjacent to Pier A at the Noatum Container Terminal. Reports coming to us, appear to indicate that he was an employee of an electrical contractor performing work upon one of the terminal’s container gantry cranes. The worker’s name is unknown at this point in time.
